
Getting Your Sidel Matrix Lamps Right
Here is the problem with swapping out OEM lamps in a Sidel Matrix blower: the temperature ramp-up. If the wattage or the light spectrum is even a tiny bit off, your preforms come out uneven. It’s a headache you don’t need. That’s why we build our lamps to match the original specs exactly. No guessing.
It’s all about the heat map
We do more than just check the voltage and wattage. We actually map out how the heat spreads across the entire length of the tube. See, if the filament winding is off by a fraction, you get hot spots. Those little spikes in heat ruin your consistency. We make sure the power draw lines up perfectly with your machine’s power supply, too. You won’t have to worry about tripping breakers or frying your wiring just because you changed a bulb.
The glass and the coatings
We use high-purity quartz. Why? Because these things go through a lot of thermal shock with all that rapid cycling. Most of our Sidel tubes also have a specific short-wave IR coating. Think of it like a mirror—it pushes the heat back toward the PET preform instead of letting it leak into the oven frame. And since we use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors, you just pop them in. No modifying sockets, no weird adapters. Just a simple swap.
A quick tip for the floor
These lamps are built to push a lot of heat, fast. They hit that factory baseline and stay there. But here is the catch: high-wattage short-wave lamps put a massive load on your cooling blowers. If your ventilation is clogged or acting up, it doesn’t matter how perfect the lamp is—they’re going to burn out early. Keep your airflow clear. Your lamps will last a lot longer, and your life will be a lot easier.
