
Getting Your Sidel Techne and Matrix Blow Molders Back Up to Speed
When you’re replacing heating lamps in a PET blow molding oven, you don’t want a “project.” You just want them to work. We’ve spent a lot of time making sure our replacement lamps fit the entire Sidel lineup—from those old-school SBO units to the newer Matrix series. The goal was simple: you shouldn’t have to touch your wiring or mess around with the oven chassis just to get a new light in there. The electrical side of things Here’s the thing about lamps: if the fit isn’t perfect, the whole process falls apart. We build our tubes to match the original OEM voltage and wattage exactly. Why? Because if you throw a lamp with the wrong wattage into a Matrix oven, you’re asking for trouble. You’ll end up with uneven wall thickness in your bottles, or worse, a blown fuse. We obsess over the ohms and the wattage so the heat stays consistent across the entire bank. It just works. Quartz and the “click” We use high-purity quartz glass because blow molding is brutal on equipment. The rapid heating and cooling can crack cheap glass. Installation is a breeze, too. We use the standard R7s or SK15 connectors, so you can swap them out fast during a changeover. And we keep the length specs incredibly tight—down to a fraction of a millimeter. If a tube is too loose, it rattles. If it rattles, it vibrates. And if it vibrates, it burns out way too soon. A quick heads-up on heat Now, high-output shortwave lamps are great for fast ramp-ups when you’re pushing for high-speed production. But there’s a catch. The more wattage you pack into every inch, the more heat leaks into the oven frame. This is where your cooling blowers come in. If your vents are clogged with dust or grime, even the most expensive lamp in the world is going to overheat and die early. Keep those blowers clean. At the end of the day, these are direct replacements. You pull the old tube out, slide the new one in, and you’re back in business. No adapters. No rewiring. Just a perfect fit for your Sidel gear.
