If you’ve got an older KOSME KSB 6000 humming away in your shop, you probably know the struggle. Over time, these machines just… drift. You start noticing the preform heating isn’t quite right. Maybe the wall thickness is all over the place, or you’re tossing way too much plastic into the scrap bin. It’s frustrating. But before you start looking at the cost of a brand-new oven, try this first: swap out your infrared lamps for some modern, high-density ones. The secret is in the heat. The KSB 6000 uses short-wave infrared to get that PET preform hot and ready, fast. We make sure our replacement lamps hit the exact voltage and wattage your KOSME circuitry expects. Here’s the thing: if you pop in a low-wattage bulb, you won’t hit the glass transition temperature quickly enough. That means you have to slow down the whole machine cycle just to get a decent bottle. Not ideal. Higher wattage tubes give you more heat flux. That’s a fancy way of saying you can push the machine faster. Just a heads-up, though—don’t go overboard. If you crank the heat too high, your cooling blow-air might not be able to keep up, and you’ll end up overheating the neck of the bottle. No headaches, just a swap.
